Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

Thankfully, the State of Emergency regarding Covid 19 is over.  Unfortunately, Covid 19 is still very present.  Vaccination, identification of illness, isolation and appropriate treatment continue to be vitally important to prevent serious illness, death or resurgence of disease.

We are pleased to continue to offer Covid Vaccine at our offices. At this time, we are offering Pfizer Bivalent vaccine for ages 5 and up. Recommendations change frequently.  At this time most people who have never been vaccinated only need one dose.  Check out this link for the most up to date guidance: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/stay-up-to-date.html

Vaccines are also available at several sites throughout the county, including many pharmacies. Please call our office to schedule your vaccine, contact the NYSDOH vaccination hotline at 1-833-697-4829  (or www.Vaccines.gov ) or check with your pharmacy.

Testing and isolation guidance

We offer rapid SARS (Covid) antigen testing in addition to rapid Influenza A and B testing at our offices for symptomatic patients. If you are in need of a screening test for work, school or travel, we can provide that testing, although it is not covered by insurance.

Isolation and quarantine guidance is available at the CDC web site.

At Westfield Family Physicians we want to reassure you that we are doing all we can to stay current with the many ongoing changes, and have taken many steps to address these changes for the well-being of all who walk through our doors.

Although the state of emergency has ended and many of the Covid measures are no longer mandatory, we continue to monitor the situation and are continuing to keep measures in place to help ensure the health and safety of our patients and staff.

HERE ARE SOME WAYS WE ARE PROVIDING FOR YOUR SAFETY AND CARE CONTINUITY

Clean office & disinfecting precautions

Westfield Family Physicians has implemented preventative measures to maintain a clean, healthy environment by applying the guidelines and processes recommended by the Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We have processes in place to separate potentially ill patients from healthy patients to the best of our ability.

Patients with suspect symptoms or high risk

Patients who call for an appointment that are experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 (a fever, cough, or breathing problems) will be screened on the phone by a nurse so that an appropriate appointment can be made either in the office, or by a telehealth video visit. The nurse may instruct you to wait in your car and enter through the side door in addition to wearing a mask. This is to protect you, our staff and other patients.

For Patients Without Symptoms Keeping Appointments

Patients being seen for routine appointments or non-respiratory illness or injury are not required to wear a mask. We do ask that you call before coming to your scheduled appointment if you have a new cough, fever, change of taste or smell or are otherwise feeling ill.

Family or friends are welcome to come to your visit with you, but please also ensure they are not ill.

Ongoing COVID-19 guidance

We continue to provide ongoing updates and education to our employees on the steps they should be taking to keep themselves healthy so we can continue to serve our community.

As always, we’re grateful for the opportunity to serve you. Rest assured — we’re doing everything in our power to provide you with safe medical service. We are here to help and support.
