ABOUT DR. BRAUTIGAM

Donald Brautigam, M.D. established Westfield Family Physicians in 1979. Prior to that, he was a Major in the U.S. Army. He completed a three-year Family Practice residency at Fort Benning, Georgia, and served two additional years as Chief of a Family Practice group at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. His medical degree is from Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, New York, and he received a B.A. in chemistry from Houghton.

Dr. Brautigam’s non-medical interests include gardening, fishing, hunting, reading, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is active in his church where he serves on the Board of Elders. The Brautigam family lives in Westfield. He and his wife have traveled to Kenya, Alaska and Haiti on short-term medical missions.

Dr. Brautigam, when you are not at work at WFP, what can you be found doing?

“When I am not at work, I am happy to spend time with family, including 17 grandchildren, or at church and church activities. Outdoors you can find me fishing, hunting, birdwatching, or using the chainsaw. Other interests include travelling and reading.”

Dr. Brautigam, what is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

“People may be surprised to learn that I began running longer distances again in 2013 after decades of not much running. Beginning in 2013 I have run (slowly) the Mighty Niagara 1/2 Marathon every year.”
